Rust is the cancer of vehicles.  It is always worse than it looks.  Whether it is on a classic car or a daily driver, we aproach the repairs the same.

If you want the absolute best repair possible then a full panel replacement will be the only repair that will satisfy you.  We would either do this repair based on time and materials for a classic car (see the restoration page) or according to the suggested book times on late model vehicles. Full panel replacement is the most expensive type of rust repair, and in some cases the only option we have.

If the situation is that there is a rusted panel that is
NOT structurally sound we will have to weld in new metal or partial panel replacements if not replacing the entire panel. This method is less costly and still gets most of the rust fixed.

If the situation is that the metal panel
IS structurally sound then we have the option of using our newest piece of shop equipment. The RUSTBUSTER wire feed welder can be used to fill rust holes on sturdy panels.  It is not the cure-all for rust because it is limited to filling holes from the exterior of the surface.  We coarsely sandblast the effected area then apply the zinc coating (a galvanizing) finish until the holes are filled.  Gaining access to the back side of this type of repair is helpful to be able to try to treat any rusted areas that could not be reached by sandblasting and spray-welding.  This is the cheapest way to fix rust, however it is only a fix for the affected area.  Rust may occur beside a repair done this way.  That would be a separate repair.
